Comment:   This record is very important because they have not been seen in the Hadejia-Nguru wetlands, a Ramsar site, and an IBA over the past 25 years. Reports from the local rangers estimated approximately 500 individuals, mostly juveniles - subadults. The birds were seen in the Oxbow Lake, a section of Dagona Waterfowl Sanctuary, within the Hadejia-Nguru Wetlands complex.
