Notes:   The farmer reported hearing a new bird a few months ago and he managed to record it but was unable to see it. Someone in Cape Nature thought it was the Red-chested Flufftail, never recorded here before. I (=Merle Chalton) called it up in a marshy area near a little stream and, to my delight, first the male then the female came two metres from me and walked a way along the stream. A couple of evenings later, Derek managed to get a brief shot (attached) of the male. Apparently, there are at least three populations not far from the farmhouse -- this is the first year they have been heard here.
