Notes:   McMurtry, D.M. #628: Sympodial epiphyte ? 80mm tall in flower. Specimen pressed from cultivated plant in NBG, Kirstenbosch - old fern greenhouse ex legit Ted Schlepe, Moz. Fls bright yellow, lip white, suffused mauve-red and greenish-yellow on apex of lateral lobes. Flower layout attached to sheet. Pickle No.11.

Comment:   The name Polystachya confusa belongs to a species restricted to East Africa. The closely related species in Eastern Zimbabwe and Malawi is called Polystachya campyloglossa (syn.: P. ottoniana var. confusa). I believe that is what the specimen here is.
