Comment:   These are pits of antlions - either the genus Myrmeleon or Cueta. from the photo they appear to be completely exposed, in which case they are probably a species of Cueta. Cueta species are all almost indistinguishable in the larval stage, all all characterized by the pink colour. Pits are always built in the open in direct sun. During the heat of the day, they burrow downwards, but are nonetheless able to withstand very high temperatures. They have to be reared to identify the adults.
