Notes:   This little guy was trapped in a deep pothole in the bed of the dry Boontjies River. We placed a walking stick into the hole in the hope that he would climb out, but this didn't work, so he was lifted carefully out by his tail, using a floppy sunhat to prevent biting. One very happy (and lucky) mongoose was last seen scurrying off among the rocks and bushes.
