Comment:   This can be either Aethomys chrysophilus or A. ineptus as both can occur in this region. Both are indistinguishable in the field and can only be identified based on confirmed distributions where there is no overlapping of these species,or/ and individuals caught and chromosome count can be determined. But as seen with the parent here, have reddish pelage, with fine brown or blackish hairs in between, also white underside.
