This one of the pair flew right down the estuary and perched on the edge of the dune next to the sea. It remained there for quite some time. An odd place, I thought, for a Goliath Heron. Comment and opinion would be welcome. |

Perhaps surveying the area from a higher elevation or just a safe resting spot? Quoting Roberts Birds: "Prefers shallow margins of large water bodies. Favours large prey including small mammals." The dunes are close to water and large prey. |
