BirdPix:   17578
Province:   KwaZulu-Natal
Country:   South Africa
Locus:   2930DD
Observer:   Jackson Mike
Date of record:   2015-05-03
Number of photos:   3
Notes:   A group of 4 birds were high up the gum tree 100 metres away, hawking flying insects along with a few drongos. Only with binoculars did I notice the white bellies and was dumbfounded. Only after viewing the telephoto shots, did I see they were barbets. I had no idea they hawked insects until then. The pictures are poor because the mid-morning sun was into the lens, and the shots were taken at fl 150mm x4 digital zoom.
