Notes:   Margaret MacIver: "Outside my front door I found a swift huddled up on the cold floor. I brought it inside and it felt cold but it’s head and eyes were moving but not the body. I tucked it up in a soft but warm cloth and put it in the box in the photo. The wings were long and the tail feathers were forked. The throat area was off white throat area, and all the feathers were juvenile. After about two hours it started moving in the box, I took it out and released it from my 3rd floor flat – it took off immediately flying strongly Lots of consulting my field guides and apps, I concluded it was a juvenile Black Swift – maybe one of the flock which had been flying around my complex the day before. After two hours the Swift suddenly started wriggling around so I took it out of the box and had a better look at it. There was a sort of off white throat area, and all the feathers were juvenile. With my heart in my mouth I threw it up in the air from my 3rd floor flat – not very high – but it took off immediately flying strongly and disappeared up to where the other Swifts were flying.
