Comment:   This is probably Macronemeurus tinctus, a common and widespread species throughout SA. It also occurs in all of our neighboring countries and extends as far north as Tanzania and Kenya. The males are very characteristic because of their long ectoprocts – visible in this picture. Nothing is known of its larvae.
