Comment:   This species is widespread; known from Burkino Faso, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Phalascusa species are typical grassland owlflies, capable of rapid flight. The beautiful abdominal patterns as seen in this picture are usually lost in preserved specimens, making good photos of live specimens extremely valuable.
