Comment:   Could possibly be Myrmeleon alcestris, but not sure. If it is this species: it is a very characteristic Myrmeleon owing to the black markings in the wings. It is widespread in SA, present in all provinces, and extends into Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.It occurs in a wide variety of habitats. The larvae are typical pit builders.A very characteristic Myrmeleon owing to the black markings in the wings.
