Comment:   Fairly common and widespread in the northern provinces of SA, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, extending into Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi. Flies very late in summer - March to April. It is one of the largest species of antlions known anywhere in the world. The large black larvae live freely in soil and sand.
