Comment:   This is a recently described species of owlfly that is fairly widespread in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West provinces of SA. It extends northwards into Zimbabwe, Namibia, Malawi and Swaziland. It is characterised by the highly modified first abdominal segment that protrudes dorsally in the shape of a blunt-ended horn – as can be seen in the photo. This characterizes the genus Dorsomitus. The larvae are presently unknown. A nice addition to our knowledge of the Lajuma lacewings.
