Notes:   I stopped on the side of the road to photograph a bird and heard a strange, distressed sounding noise coming from the rear of the car, but didn't see anything. The grasslands were very lush. I drove off and a short while later on the way back I noticed the snake in the road. At first I thought it was pretending to be in distress to distract attention, but then realised it was in fact in the process of dying. It was a healthy looking specimen and the only conclusion I could come to was that I must have driven over it with my car, much to my dismay.
