Notes:   Amethyst Sunbirds are recent arrivals in Cape town and this female had not learnt the tricks of nesting in our strong south easter winds. Her first two nests blew down, but her third was attached more firmly to a oak tree branch and she successfully raised two chicks in this nest. One photo shows her feeding her chicks and the second was taken just an hour before the two chicks left the nest - after she had called them from a nearby tree while refusing to deliver any more food to them.
