Comment:   A very characteristic Myrmeleon owing to the black markings in the wings. It is widespread in SA, present in all provinces, and extends into Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. It occurs in a wide variety of habitats. The larvae are typical pit builders.
