Two batches of larvae found on Capparis tomentosa on 26 June 2010. One batch was only ~2 or 3 days old, the other a couple days older. Larvae were taken to be raised. The pupae ranged in colour from light green, dark green with brown on the spikes, and brown. The distance between the spikes of each pupa was ~8 mm; the ~same distance as between the spikes on the C. tomentosa thorns. 31 reached adulthood (31 butterflies were hatched); 15 were yellow females (f. pigea?), 7 were pale yellow-white females (f. alba?), and 9 were males (white). 2 pale yellow-white females escaped from an ajar window, and 1 male escaped. No yellow females escaped. All those that did not escape were taken to appropriate release sites within 5 km radius of collection site and set free. |
