Comment:   This species has not been recorded from South Africa. Currently known from DRC, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia. Phalascusa species are typical grassland owlflies, capable of rapid flight. The beautiful body patterns as seen in this picture are usually lost in preserved specimens, making good photos of live specimens extremely valuable.
