Comment:   Superficially very similar to Hagenomyia tristis and often occurs in mixed swarms with this species. The two species are part of a mimicry guild with H. tristis mimicking B. lethalis, which has repugnatorial glands. The biology is quite different. H.tristis larvae build pits,B. lethalis are freeliving in sand.
