Comment:   This belongs to the family Osmylidae, probably Spilosmylus tristis, the only species known from Malawi. Osmylids are rarely encountered, but widespread in southern and central Africa. Interestingly, the larvae are semi-aquatic, living on the edges of streams where they prey on larvae of Chironomidae (Diptera) and other soft-bodied insects that live in the water.
