Notes:   We were on a family camping trip and I was sitting on the ground when I saw this beautiful spider next to me, I grabbed my phone and took photos because I joined a spider group on Facebook a few months ago and have been sending photos for ID's on spiders we love learning about them now instead of fearing them. We gathered up all the kids aged 2 to 14 for a teaching moment and then explained that we never kill gods creatures and that we should remember that we are trespassing on the spiders territory not the other way around, I also told them according to the facebook group we have very few spiders in South Africa that can actually kill us, but to always be careful just in case. Yet every human can kill a spider. I then picked up a paddle placed it infront of the spider and when he climbed on I took him to the nearest thick bush for him to climb off so he can find another friend to sit next to. The kids immediately started looking up the spider on google. I posted it on the facebook spider page and they helped to ID our friend as a trapped door spider. What a beautiful spider to have had sit next to me.
