Comment:   This is the larva of a species of Cueta. They are almost indistinguishable in the larval stage. All are characterized by the pink colour and stout digging setae on the terminal abdominal segments. Pits are always built in the open in direct sun. During the heat of the day, they burrow downwards, but are nonetheless able to withstand very high temperatures. They have to be reared to identify the adults.
