Riding Kori Bustard - bustard disturbs flying insects, which the bee-eaters catch, then return to their steed. They did this using wildebeest and zebra, and would also fly alongside our vehicle, catching anything disturbed by the tyres. All this was taking place in the then dry bed of the Savuti River - which began flowing again in 2008 - but in 2006 January it was a lush grassland. This explains the imprecision of some of the coordinates - Google Earth's current pictures show that all of this area is now underwater. This makes it difficult to pin down precise locations prior to 2008. |
