Photos of Weaver Nests

Record details

   [ Record 16 of 100 ]
PHOWN:   3688
Province:   Gauteng
Country:   South Africa
Locus:   2527DD
Observer:   Zaloumis, Alex
Date of record:   2012-10-24
Number of photos:   3
Notes:   variations of nests - different shapes, many much larger and some open, many with new/green entrances added onto old nests. Presume these open nests were used to shelter from the highveldt winters. Thickbilled weavers nests all mixed up with many cape weaver nests see bottom of pic with tall reeds - these are reeds that were not burnt so presume that the nests survived and being reused.
