Record details

   [ Record 28 of 149 ]
PHOWN:   7432
Province:   Mpumalanga
Country:   South Africa
Locus:   2531AC
Observer:   Zaloumis, Alex
Date of record:   2013-11-10
Number of photos:   3
Notes:   3 nests in tree, another 5 accross stream in reedbeds overhanging water. 1. Golden weavers definitely recondition existing nests. Examined a number of 'old' nests to check on inner lining - green repairs/patches found on many. 2. Seems that there are 'pairs' of golden weavers every 20 to 40m along these reedbeds. Each pair has a couple of nests - ie there are small clusters of nests - not colonies. Final count along this 1km of reedbed and stream reached over 70 plus- with some looking very old. Some had faeces.
