Comment:   Weinell & Bauer (2017) distinguish this species morphologically from the others in the "varia" complex by "the presence of dark longitudinal dorsal stripes beginning within five scale rows behind the nuchal scales and extending onto the base of the tail". This species occurs in and around the Waterberg.
