Notes:   These three tortoises were charging nose to tail through the bush at a speed which, while modest by most standards, exceeded anything I had previously associated with tortoises. We assumed that this was a larger, perhaps reluctant, female being pursued by a pair of smaller, amorous males. She may, of course, have been operating on the principle 'Let the best tortoise win'.
