Virtual Museum of African Mammals

Record details

   [ Record 1 of 35 ]
MammalMAP:   14119
Province:
Country:   Congo (DRC)
Locus:   1127CB
Observer:   Huchzermeyer Carl; Giulia Boni
Date of record:   2015-02-27
Number of photos:   1
Notes:   The observer reports that this animal had unmistakeable white spots 'like a deer'. It is however not a bushbuck... the head and hooves are suggestive of Puku. Lubumbashi has a large bushmeat market and gets much trade in wildlife products from Zambia. I'm submitting this more to see what experts think it may be...

Comment:   No Sign of spots in the photo - maybe the observer might have also perhaps seen a bushbuck and maybe got confused. There is no sign of the signature white bowtie on the neck that the bushbuck have.
