Notes:   The next four photos show a female Wild Dog and one of her unusual companions. Some considerable time back this female was the sole survivor of her pack, which had been killed for reasons unknown - whether disease or liion/hyena competition has never been determined. After hunting for a spell on her own, she began to make overtures to both Spotted Hyaenas and Black-backed Jackals. This she did by ingratiation, chiefly through regurgitating food for the youngsters. She now seems to have established a firm relationship with some Black-backed Jackals. The jackals have benefited through her hunting prowess - she has the companionship that she clearly needs. The shots show both her right and left sides.
