Comment:   this is probably the larva of Palparidius concinnus. This species is fairly widespread in the northern parts of SA. Known from Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, North West and Northern Cape. Also from Botswana and Namibia. The large reddish-brown larvae live freely in soil, and one has been recorded feeding on a small scorpion.
