The common bulbul is as the name implies pretty common in virtually all regions in Nigeria and many parts of Africa. It is found in most habitats obtainable in Africa and often around human habitation. It is one of the most commonly seen and heard birds. Typically the feeds on insects and fallen fruit.
I had become used to seeing the fly sing and hunt insects from my balcony.
However one day I stepped out to the balcon camera in hand and on took of from my neighbours garden to the roof and it had something in its beak. I initially thought it was nesting material but was shocked to find a juvenile agama lizard in its beak. It hit the lizard against the roof a couple of times like a thrush would before taking off. It was in company of another bulbul |
