This could be any of three genera, Myrmeleon, Hagenomyia or Cueta. But to judge from the grassy shrubland habitat and apparently unprotected habitat it is probably a Cueta. Cueta species always build pits in the open in direct sun. During the heat of the day, they burrow downwards, but are nonetheless able to withstand very high temperatures. They have to be reared to identify the adults |
