Record details

   [ Record 21 of 162 ]
BirdPix:   13789
Province:   KwaZulu-Natal
Country:   South Africa
Locus:   2828DB
Observer:   McCutcheon Ian
Date of record:   2014-12-31
Number of photos:   3
Notes:   Photo's are heavily cropped and therefore very small so the identification is not easy. This large raptor has a long tail, and has long broad wings with slow flapping flight. The one photo suggests a white rump which was visible during the sighting. The white primaries are just visible in the photos and there does appear to be some markings on the head. My guess is a juvenile Harrier-Hawk, or perhaps a Buzzard?
