Comment:   This is one of the largest species of antlions. In South Africa, it only occurs along the northern KZN coastal belt as far south as Durban. It extends northwards to coastal Kenya, and is fairly common in the coastal dune forests of KZN and Mozambique and is protected within the iSimangaliso ans St Lucia areas. The large red, green and black banded larvae live freely in sand.
