This individual was alive when photographed. Photo taken at 14:30. It sat on a twig for approximately 3 minutes until it probably got disturbed by me when I tried to take a picture of the ventral side.The darker "stain" on the rear left wing was on the wing and is not part of the background. This individual was seen in a garden with no permanent water except for a very shallow bird bath. |

Male; Nice shots; This species has evolved to take advantage of temporary puddles for breeding; full larval development can take less than 40 days - one of the shortest durations for a dragonfly species. |
