Notes:   The ferocious spines along the midrib of this palm frond (Real Fan Palm Hyphaene petersiana) deter this baboon not one bit. The palm fruit is eagerly sought after by elephants and baboons, and their depredations result in hundreds of palm fruits littering the forest floor, much to the delight of many other small creatures.
